YES, I KNOW, i disappear for a week (no wireless but for the phone. but venturess' loss is twitter's gain, as proven by a lil' jump in twitter followers there. hi, if you're reading...) and come back with what is, essentially, a lazy post - no need for posing, uploading photos or anything like that, just a quick youtube search.

firstly, because the poster for this album is everywhere around the tubes, and secondly because i have had it on repeat for the past week and a bit. literally played it 5 or 6 times in one day. beginning to end.

i went to see the dum dum girls on monday night. i forgot/couldn't be arsed to take pictures.

apart from having a whole load of tuuunes, they dress pretty well too, yknow. always look at things from a fash-un perspective, etc. of course, by "they dress well", i mean i'm looking for a jacket like dee dee's (front left in the above pic), and already have the tights she's wearing. and i wore them on monday. pure coincidence, honest.

a little thursday evening gigging. he was awesome - some remixed bloc party stuff, as well as the new album stuff which sounded great. of course, alcohol may have helped my thinking here.

i remember being at gigs at age 16 and having a hard time deciding whether the 14 year olds declaring the love for whatever band were more annoying, or the drunk older people dancing around with no regard for others.

having now experienced being a tipsy older person at a gig, i find the sober kids giving us withering looks to be the most annoying.

a life lesson learned, i think? younger people are always the most annoying; maybe because you will, inevitably, be the older people one day, but you can never be the annoying young person again.

Vice is only doing another collaboration-type-affair, aren't they? what are they like?!

The Creators Project is all about taking, err, creators and putting them out there. It's a "celebration of creativity and culture across media, and around the world."

essentially, they do a little interview and a video with/about certain people with music, film, art, design, and of course, fashion, and they talk about their work and how the place they live/are from has influenced them. y'know, that kinda thing.

on their site you can find such people as CSS, Mark Ronson and Peaches, with big coming soon notices on one of The Horrors, Spike Jonze and Nick Zinner. but I'm here to talk about Alexandre Herchcovitch, because he's in fash-un, yah?

The Creators Project: How did you become interested in fashion?
Alexandre Herchovitch: Observing my mother’s sense of style.

Is schooling important for designers?
Well, there’s a lot of debate about that. Some of the best designers didn’t study to become designers. They were learning intuitively, you know? Since I was working with clothes long before I ever enrolled at university, four or years before, I already had a brand. I sold and made clothes for some years. It was important for me because I wanted to understand fashion branding better. At the same time, I don’t think university did that for me ultimately.

Where do you find inspiration?
My influences come from various places. Music influences me, but in a marginal way, not directly. With me, music is important, but not in what I create. I don’t think music has a direct connection to my work.

Has being from Sao Paulo influenced you much, do you think?
There are a lot of commonalities between my work and where I’m from and where I was born. But I don’t think if you picked out one of my pieces and asked someone where they thought it were from, they wouldn’t say Brazil. My work doesn’t give off the vibe that it’s specific to Sao Paulo or Brazil. What I think Sao Paulo helped me to do and to understand—because of its cosmopolitan nature—is make fashion that could be worn around world.

no but really; amazing weekend. I've noticed around some blogs (BSB guest posts, I'm lookin' at you) that not so many fash-un bloggers are down with festivals, but BOOHISSBOO to all of y'all. this was only my second but it was awesome. I can't choose between IOW '10 and Latitude '08, though - IOW would be whooping ass, I think, but Interpol headlining the Sunday at Lat was, like, a spiritual experience.

speaking of; I came home to find my Interpol tickets for November.

Don't ask about the spoon; I don't know.

I had (am having) a massive clearout (ebayyyyy); my reasons for which are threefold.

1. I need money.

2. I am refining my style; anything that isn't really me is going. I want to build a more focused wardrobe. 70s and 90s influences, feminine without being girly, and a bit of an edge. Lots of jersey, lots of longer lengths.

3. I have too much stuff. Mostly jewellery that I don't wear cos I wear the same necklaces/rings/bracelets all the time.

That said, I found this multitude of elastic bead bracelets when I was clearing out stuff, and I was taken back to school/college when I used to wear them ALL THE TIME. So I put them all on at once.

FYI, it was too hot for the jacket OR elasticated bracelets yesterday.

ALSO note my green nails? It's Collection 2000 Hot Looks in Mint Mojo. It was £1.85; and caught my attention in Morrisons, of all places. They had some super bright colours, but whether it's the pale shade or the price tag, this took 3 coats and I've smudged it everywhere. Course, that's my fault cos I'm right clumsy with nail polish BUT STILL. Nice shade though.

it's a mystery

Photo blogging is my new favourite pasttime.
I should've been doing work (I should be now) but a secret, and free, Mystery Jets gig in a car park with free drinks followed by a night of flailing dancing at Digital is hard to pass up. Excellent day.
