Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon

Tan lines, ahoy!
I went to Finsbury Park yesterday, read a book, listened to some tunes, took some timer pics, freaked some people out.

(Sunglasses: Peacocks, Jacket: Camden Market; Bikini: H&M, Dress: free from work, Belt: 2nd hand,
Shoes: New Look, Necklaces: Portobello Market. And..I don't know where the pearly ones from, actually.)

I'm totally into Lady Gaga right now (The Fame was said tunes).
It pains me to say this, cos a couple of months ago I couldn't stand her.
But her album is electro-pop genius. Her voice reminds me of Gwen Stefani in places, and god knows I love anything Stefani-based. I even went to see her over Interpol 4 years ago.*
It still mystifies me as to why she doesn't appear to own any trousers or skirts, though.

* Firstly, OMG THAT WAS 4 YEARS AGO WTF. Secondly, it was before I was a massive 'pol fan. Stefani wouldn't get a look in now.

OO OO OO

I found duck egg blue Docs! I squealed when I saw them...

But then about 5 mins later I realised they probs wouldn't go with much and decided I'd stick with electric blue :D

Yep yep, methinks thems the ones.

...that is literally all I have to say today, I've not done/seen anything blog worthy.

OH NO WAIT I LIE.
I came across this jewellery site which has some awesome things.

I totally want both of these, but a) they're expensive, b) I probs wouldn't wear them and c) That chain ring would totally get in the way of everything.
Fierce though.
Scorpio(n)s are clearly awesome ^_^

Oh yeah, shameless plug, I put loads of stuff on ebay, if you wish to check it out, click the pic below!

Controversy, thy name is Doc

Earlier today I posted this on facebook, and..well you see the response.*

Docs are chunky and not at all feminine, yeah, I do have eyes, I know this.
What this makes for is either a) a punky as hell outfit, black skinnys, maybe with a blouse and a tailored jacket, or b) an awesome mix of styles with a girly dress, or some florals, or a skirt and sheer blouse...
Ooo I have so many styling ideas right now.

Note in the above debate, it was never a question of getting them, it was a question of colour. I was leaning towards cherry red, originally, but now I think metallic blue (nice and worn, second hand from ebay, thats the way to do it) may be the way to go.

As if to prove their awesome-ness, here is some Doc related imagery. Agyness looks awesome, as always. (Well, as nearly always.) Dakota Fanning looks cool too (yes she's like 14, what of it. And yeah she's in a magazine, but there's also photos of her out and about in em).

Oh yeah, and Daisy Lowe is like, official spokesperson for the company.

Also, anything Yohji Yamamoto is involved in is automatically good (if not necessarily my taste, oh hi Y-3).

Ahhhh awesomeness.

PS
TWO POSTS IN ONE DAY
how i spoil you.

PPS
This is what I wore today, even if it was only to go to Sainsbury's for quiche-based ingredients.

(Trousers from Topshop, tee from H&M, Jacket/brooch from Camden
Market, flat shoes (!!!) from Primark (eurgh.), bag from charity shop)

I only realised when I was half the way down the road that I was all in linen, but I look pretty ace so whatevs.

Best go check on said quiche, ey?

*hopefully. If not, it involved me saying I wanted Docs but didn't know what colour to get and everyone I know telling me not to bother cos they don't like them. Never mind that I do, yknow.

ode to... Pixie Market

So this is an idea I have for times when there's not much to blog about: ode to...
Which is pretty much gonna be a post about a shop/blog/website/tv show/band/album/thing I'm particularly loving right then.

So yeah

Is an online shop, although there is a physical store in New York ^_^ I only discovered it via work, cos it's a source of inspiration for the designers and stuff.

It's pretty awesome :D
Although loads of things sell out quickly, and it's pretty expensive....feh, the stuff is too nice!

Those boots are pretty awesome (and only about 60 quid). As is the cuff (it may cost more, though.)

FYI
I decided to put the skirt/dress/thing on ebay, I need the money more than I do a long skirt. Plus theres some stuff I want from ebay now...isn't there always.

things i need in my life.

This weekend of sitting in the house has forced me to peruse the Internet. I have now decided I need both of these bags, both from Topshop, for my as-yet-still-unbooked Europe trip.

Definately need a satchel, and am watching some on ebay, but the huge bag is ace, and I'm thinking maybe thats a better idea than a wheelie case. More practical, but better looking than a rucksack (of course aesthetics are important in travelling, shutup!).

In completely un-connected news, I'd like someone to buy me these shoes, plzkthnx:

The above are, according to the blog I found the pic on, Martin Margiela's, but I can't find them anywhere :(
The bottom ones are Yves Saint Laurent cage heels...love.
I will accept no imitations (though there are plenty, just none with the cage heel too). But they are about £950, which is not good. We passed the YSL shop in SoHo last Monday and I saw them in the window out the corner of my eye, and I swear to god I steamed up the window cos my face was pressed so close to it. I NEED THEM! ARGH! Why don't I have 950 pounds :(

Oh yeah, and I found the YSL pic on a blog called supersneakystreetscene which is pretty awesome. The post with the shows also has some GORGEOUS Ann Demeulemeesters, among others, and yeah. It's a pretty good style blog. I added so many of those today! You can see which blogs I follow on Blogger through my profile which is over there >>>
Mostly they are fashion related, lots of street style blogs. I like that sort of thing. If you know of one I don't appear to be watching, let me know!

So, yeah, as promised, finally, here are the things I bought last weekend.
Black dress (with new leather jacket, in the first pic. My how I love it. I feel sooo Rick Owens in that outfit. Fierce.):

(Black dress from Episode in Camden, leather jacket from ebay, shoes from Peacocks)

Why do I look asleep in the first one? And what is happening with my hair?? Weird.

Pink silk skirt:

(Hat from ebay, top & leggings free samples from work XD, skirt from...err...a vintage shop
on Chalk Farm Road, shoes from...err...somewhere. They're very old.)

Good god that pic is 80s-tastic.

Red dress:

(Dress from Beyond Retro, sunglasses from Peacocks)

Clearly channelling my inner Jackie O there. Or something.

And finally, white cropped jacket (with nautical brooch):

(Jacket + brooch from Camden Market, skirt from Traid,
belt from charity shop, boots from ebay)

NOW, opinion time.
I'm pretty much buzzing off that outfit ^ but the skirt was originally marked for the ebay pile, and it was only when I was taking photos for ebay today that I thought "Hey, I know I bought this to wear as a dress, with a belt, which is a look I'm kind of over now, but maybe it could work as an actual skirt which is it's actual purpose, hmm?", but I don't know if I'm maybe too short to pull off a longer skirt.
So yeah, if there is anyone actually reading this blog (other than my mam, but your input is welcome too :P) opinions would be welcomed. Cos it's ready to whack on ebay otherwise.

I need to get those boots reheeled.

ZOO TIME ZOO TIME*

Monday & Tuesday of last week for this recap, then. Cept I have no pics from Monday cos my camera battery died - I'm waiting for Kim to upload the pics to Facebook but til then we have nothing.

Anyways, we went wandering around SoHo, after getting tickets to Spring Awakening on the night. We went to Yo! Sushi, which was Kim's first sushi experience, and she loved it. Which is good, cos it's awesome. It took me long enough to find it though, cos I couldn't remember which street it was on, and that part of SoHo is like a maze. Finally found it on Poland Street and did a little jump in the air cos I was well hungry by then. And of course, it being just round the corner from Beyond Retro (ensuring I never forget where it is again) meant I dragged Kim there after. She bought some shoes, I bought a red dress. Again, there will be pics at some point.

We went to Oxford Street, but only to play the 'we made that' game in Topshop (which is a game I invented, and involves walking round Topshop/Miss Selfridge shouting 'we made that!' at anything RTW made. Fun times.), and then I took Kim alllll the way to the Caffe Nero at the bottom of Dover Street, to show her the hot Italian guy who works there (luckily he was at work). Haha, pervs. I have no pics, btw. :(.

Annnnd then we went to the National Gallery for a quick poke around, and I was gutted I didn't have my camera/sketchbook at this point and made a note to go back with them to get some inspirational stuff. I've never been before, rather liked it. And then Pizza Express for tea :D. YumYum.

So Spring Awakening was AWESOME. I downloaded the soundtrack (cast recording, whatevs) when we got home, and I urge anyone reading to go see it asap, though it closes (nooooo!) next Saturday, which is vair vair sad. I read it wasn't selling tickets despite rave reviews from pretty much everyone who has seen it thus far. Bad times.

So Tuesday we decided we'd go to the zoo :D
Commence photos.

Emo ray! Brilliant.

The fish with the best face/facial expression EVER.

A cuddly Gorilla that looked like it had passed out. I am easily amused.

Kim's starting her own zoo in 'boro, but with stuffed animals.....I wish this was true.

I got so many pics in the butterfly house, the patterns and colours are awesome.
The tigers were gorgeous.

MEERKATS! They are so awesome.

Um yeah so somehow we literally spent all day at the Zoo, then we walked through Regent's Park and past Baker Street, and went for coffee, and then to Chinatown for some Chinese, and then we realised we hadn't been to hug the gherkin (which was something Kim was trying to force me to do haha), so we wandered to Bank and it was dusk by time we got there, and dark by the time we got on the bus home. Got some nice pics, all on facebook, but here's Kim hugging the gherkin (and as such making peace with her fear of tall buildings) and in Leadenhall Market.

So I was at work Thursday and Friday, and the last 2 days I've been sitting in the house, watching old Lost (I'm at the season 1 finale now, fact fans.), doing washing and sorting stuff out to ebay, which is excellent news for both my wardrobe - which was close to bursting - and my bank balance - which is suffering baaaadly from last weekend and lack of bursary going into it.
I plan to become a hermit until I get said bursary, so you might have to make do with posts about cool things I found on the Internet/Lost for a while.
Better than nowt innit.

* For fans of Mystery Jets first album *wink*

Friday, Saturday, Happy Days

This is last Friday and Saturday, ofc.
Sunday was not a particularly 'happy day' and is therefore not included.
But yeah.

I met Kim at 4-ish (after leaving work early, teehee) and we dropped her bag off here and went to see QI (!!!), cept, we got there and queued for a while, and then they said it was full, cos apparantly having a ticket wasn't enough, it was also first come first served. BOOOO. Good job they were free goddammit. Gutted though, no Mr Fry sightings ;_;.

So I showed Kim around the South Bank a little instead, in the rain.

And we went to Giraffe for tea.

Where they charged us "optional" service charge? But they whack it right on yer bill so you'd have to ask to have it taken off, and risk the embarrassment. SNEAKY BUGGERS.

And we wandered around in the dark a bit too.

And on Saturday, we went to Camden XD
I saw Eudald from work! Haha, it was random. And he was with two of his friends and all 3 of them had trenchcoats on, I lol'd, it was like they were in a club of some sort.

ANNNND we had lunch at the market, which is one of my fave places to eat cos it's a) cheap and b) SO diverse, you can literally have anything. I had Mexican, Kim had Chinese, and we sat on the awesome new motorbike chairs on the right side of the road - I'm pretty sure it's newly open, I guess after the Hawley Arms fire? I dunno, it looked pretty shiny and new.

I spent lots of money on a bright pink skirt, a long black dress (VAIR gothic/Comme De Garcons/Rick Owens. LOVE.), a white jacket and a nautical brooch, and a Russian-style fur hat, which was purely for that nights entertainment and which I have been trying to shoe-horn into my actual wardrobe for the past week, but to no avail.
(FYI, there will probs be pics of these items on here at some point soon, mmkay? I'm in my jamas now and can't be bothered to change.)

It doesn't matter what I put it with, I just look Russian. I'll keep it till winter, when it's actually fur hat weather, and see what happens then, ey? Else it's going on ebay.

So, the nights entertainment, you ask? EUROVISION, MY DEAR!
Bailey had invited us round, and jokingly she suggested it be fancy dress.
Never offer the option of fancy dress to someone from Newcastle - I am almost certain it is the fancy dress capital of the world. (No lie, go out, any night, and you will see hundreds of people in fancy dress. Especially if it's a weekend. Or a big student night. Or a day ending in Y.)

I was Russia, and wore this, as well as my fur hat:

(Hat from Camden Market, vintage jacket from Brick Lane, vest from work, skirt from
Topshop, boots from ebay. Fur tail from Portobello market, put together by me :D)

Note the fine colour matching of the flag there! Also the fierce use of fur (read: the only 2 furry items I had), and know that I also took a bottle of vodka. This last fact was regrettable.

And Kim was France:

She looked AWESOME. I dunno what it was about the flicky hair, but she looked so much more French with it. And those are all my clothes, haha. Even the necklace kinda looks like onions! Genius.

'course, Nico, an actual french person, turned up later, but Kim clearly *looked* more French, so yknow.

So yeah, we went, we made/drank copious amounts of cocktails, we ate pizza, we cheered on Greece*, Bailey's dress fell down more times than was appropriate (well, one time is more than enough, really), we danced with a crutch...?**

...we woke up the next morning somewhat worse for wear.

Understatement.
Made it home, slowly, after much walking/fresh air before we could brave the bus, and after a stop at Tesco for cheese strings and haribo (Kim) and sausage rolls (me). Hungover cravings are weird.

We got in, we had a sleep and a cheese string each, and I made sausage rolls and mash, and it was awesome. XD

----------------------------------------

OK, so today, I felt like an actual proper designer. Haha, it was ace.
I dunno why, I mean I was sitting at Eudald's desk cos he's buzzed off to New York for 10 days (lucky bitch.) but it's not like I haven't sat there before...shrug.

Annnd on the way home I saw this car:

LEOPARD PRINT SMART CAR
WANTWANTWANT

----------------------------------------

* The campest, therefore, the best song. Apparantly the UK gave it 12 points. I did not remember this. I do remember voting for it twice, though.

**I have no idea who this crutch belonged to.
