Last week, though, I had a week off work and I popped out to Poland and to Budapest and mostly forgot to take photos.<br />
<br />
Here are some of the ones I did take...<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Poznan (of which there are no pics...) was wonderful; Budapest even more so. Warsaw was nice enough but I didn't need to stay so long, and I have no desire to return, unlike most of the other places I've visited on my travels.<br />

Not necessarily in an 'I-want-every-piece' or a 'good-lord-look-at-the-theatricality' sense, as is my usual wont, but simply in an 'oh-my-that's-beautiful' sense. I do, of course, appreciate the silhouette (but then, the nipped in waist and flared skirts are quintessentially Dior, so, y'know) and the silver dress in look 6 is PERFECTION IN DRESS FORM, it is elements other than those that drew me in. </div><div><br /></div><div>The blown-up, metallic, barely there houndstooth. The buttery twisted leather. The off-the-shoulder leather, paired with a high necked layer, belt, and silk pencil skirt wonder that is look 3. Even the gowns. !!!. I'm <i>so </i>not a gown girl, but <i>the gowns</i>. <b><i>The gowns.</i></b><br /><br />While <a href="http://fashionista.com/2012/03/the-dior-rumors-a-complete-guide/" target="_blank">every designer under the sun</a> is being touted to take over the reigns at Dior (and some a little ridiculous - Alexander Wang?!? AT DIOR?!?! I just don't see how the aesthetics could possibly work), I, for one, am more than happy to see Bill Gaytten continue to head up Dior if he's going to produce shows like this.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00010m-5.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00020m-5.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00030m-3.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00040m-3.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00080m-6.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00130m-3.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00150m-3.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00210m-4.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00270m.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00320m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00410m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00420m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00500m.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00520m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00530m.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00540m.jpg" /></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">jenn.x</div>jenn.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04818393092933095914noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1028692135122340611.post-91257984385817586642012-02-29T21:16:00.004+00:002012-03-02T19:58:13.055+00:00dries.<div style="text-align: right;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:78%;">imgs from <a href="http://www.style.com/" target="_blank">style.com</a></span></i></div><div style="text-align: right;"><i><br /></i></div><div>Milan didn't spark any interest, but Paris is here now, so who cares?</div><div><br /></div><a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2012RTW-DVNOTEN" target="_blank">Dries Van Noten</a> took the print, and messed with the placement, producing wonky patterns and colour/print blocking in unusual spots. The jacket in look 2 immediately caught my eye, as did the one in look 5, and the trousers in look 8 (<i>hubba</i>).<div><br /></div><div>That said, look 6 is my absolute favourite here. The proportions on every piece are just perfect. Like I said, <i>hubba</i>.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00010m-4.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00050m-5.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00060m-2.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00080m-5.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00090m-2.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00160m-3.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00240m-2.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00520m.jpg" /></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">jenn.x</div>jenn.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04818393092933095914noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1028692135122340611.post-49694540434032390442012-02-25T11:52:00.006+00:002012-02-25T12:24:24.133+00:00birds and fruits.<div style="text-align: right;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:78%;">imgs from <a href="http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=1028692135122340611" com="" target="_blank">Charlotte Taylor's blog</a></span></i></div><div><br /><div>Following the print theme currently unfolding at <i>venturess</i>, let's talk about <a href="http://www.charlottetaylorltd.com/" target="_blank"> Charlotte Taylor</a>, who, for her AW12 collection 'Jamaica Inn' presented - as for her previous four seasons - brightly coloured, quirky repeat prints. Previous collections have featured penguins, lobsters, fish, trees and, err, robots, but this season we're treated to all kinds of birds (Note the black maxi with the multicoloured splotches. Those would be parrots.) and...some sort of fruit that I can't identify 'cos I can't zoom in any further. Grapes? Raspberries?<br /><br /></div><div>Now, we already know that I like <a href="http://venturess.blogspot.com/search/label/things%20that%20fly" target="_blank">anything bird related</a>, but the black birds on the yellow background look a little like leopard print at a squint/in a thumbnail (no?) so they're EVEN BETTER than first imagined. </div><div><br /></div><div>Scarf prints also feature in the collection, which encompasses the kind of cuts I can always get behind - fitted dresses in midi- and maxi- lengths, slim, cropped trousers, button up blouses and full skirts with fitted waists. Wonderful.</div><div><br /></div><div>And a <i>real owl</i> in the lookbook pics!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at135930.png" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at135941.png" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at135953.png" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at140004.png" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at140023.png" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at140033.png" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at140045.png" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at140114.png" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at140122.png" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/Screenshot2012-02-19at140129.png" /></div></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">jenn.x</div>jenn.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04818393092933095914noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1028692135122340611.post-47515595928928309132012-02-23T19:21:00.001+00:002012-02-25T12:10:02.070+00:00everyday items.<div style="text-align: right;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:78%;">all imgs from <a href="http://www.style.com/" target="_blank">style.com</a></span></i></div><br /><br />I'm not even a big print girl - you know, you've read the catwalk commentary for, like, 6 season now, right? <i>RIGHT?!</i> - but <a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2012RTW-MKATRANTZOU" target="_blank">Mary Katrantzou</a>'s AW12 show can only be described as jaw dropping and it is definitely necessary to post it up on here posthaste.<div>Even though it's already been posted on about half of the blogs I follow. </div><div>Naja. </div><div>Guess I won't bore you with the 'inspired by items you'd find in a drawer' schpeel...oh. </div><div><br /><div>The thing that really got me was the way the prints imply texture and volume, like some sort of magic eye/3D effect - looks 7 and 8 especially, to my eyes. It needs capitals. It was all outerwear, all the time at Belstaff though - big surprise. <div><br /><div>Beradi showed the stunning and eye-searing red with a perfectly proportioned cropped jacketin grey (look 1), a perfectly pleated poodle skirt (look 2 - can such a futuristic looking skirt be referred to as a poodle skirt? It can now.) and a pale pink coat, which should clash, but sort of works (look 3)? Also with plenty of alliteration, apparently. </div><div>The red (!) dress with the flared skirt and tiny shoulder cut out, espesh with that skinny belt (look 3) is flawless - it may be my perfect dress? - and the cut of the grey/black gown (look 7) looks amazingly flattering.</div><div>Also, sequin maxi skirts.</div><div><br /></div><div>Belstaff could give Burberry a run for their money - 'course, they'd need to up their online game massively in order to compete with Burbs, but, yknow, in the practical-outerwear-brand-gone-high-end-with-a-military-twist realm, they're up there.</div><div>Brown coat with black leather details (look 3), cropped cable knit (look 5), and black coat with leather details (look 7) - OK, so, anything with leather details - are standouts, as are the bags.<br /><br /><div><a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2012RTW-ABERARDI" target="_blank">Antonio Beradi</a></div><div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00020m-4.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00050m-4.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00070m-3.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00080m-4.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00130m-2.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00190m-2.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00310m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00330m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00400m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00420m.jpg" /></div><br /><br /><a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2012RTW-BELSTAFF" target="_blank">Belstaff</a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/002m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/003m.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/004m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/005m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/007m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/012m-2.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/017m.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/021m.jpg" /></div></div></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">jenn.x</div>jenn.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04818393092933095914noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1028692135122340611.post-62560611138730411862012-02-18T12:37:00.003+00:002012-02-18T12:59:14.972+00:00felder felder.<div style="text-align: right;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:78%;">all imgs from <a href="http://www.style.com/" target="_blank">style.com</a></span></i></div><div><br /></div>The <a href="http://venturess.blogspot.com/2012/02/winter-pops.html" target="_blank">neon pops</a> in NYC have moved on in London, to the bright shades of orange and red or multi-coloured prints (reminiscent of C Kane, no?) at <a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2012RTW-FFELDER" target="_blank">Felder Felder</a>.<div><br /><div>I can't decide if the sepia toned print in the first looks is abstract or photographic (<i>*squints to see a picture if it's the latter*</i>), but it makes for an excellent pair of trousers. Normally when the A/W shows are on it's starting to warm up a bit and everyone is looking forward to days of no tights and less than 5 layers.</div><div><br /></div><div>Neons are essentially a spring/summer colour choice, but if the opening days of NYFW are selling us anything so far, it's the idea that neon works just as well in the colder months too. Which makes sense - I mean, to my eyes, neon works best with the common winter neutrals; the beiges and soft greys.</div><div>So far, Jenni Kayne, Juan Carlos Obando and LAMB are in on the retina-searing shades, and it's inspired one of my 'when I'm back home and probably unemployed' projects, as long as I can source some neon wool - a sort of fair isle jumper situation in beige wool with pink neon detail. Or light grey with neon yellow or lime... The combos are probably endless. We will, of course, see if this comes to fruition but I'll be damned if I end up sitting around the house watching TV all day. Again.</div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway. The almost-neon tartan at LAMB is awesome. The Obando evening dresses aren't my style (in the i-have-no-need-for-evening-dresses sense) but certainly are neon (and would make a fantastic out-of-the-box red carpet outfit) and I'm cheating slightly on the Jenni Kayne shots with a grey coat/black trousers/brown leather top combo but it was too fantastic not to post it.</div><div><br /></div><a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2012RTW-JKAYNE" target="_blank">Jenni Kayne</a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/012m.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/001m.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/013m.jpg" /></div><br /><a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2012RTW-JCOBANDO" target="_blank">Juan Carlos Obando</a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00140m.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00150m.jpg" /></div><br /><a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2012RTW-LAMB" target="_blank">LAMB</a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00130m.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00160m-1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/00240m.jpg" /></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">jenn.x</div>jenn.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04818393092933095914noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1028692135122340611.post-74554483325256312772012-02-12T12:11:00.003+00:002012-02-12T12:30:39.108+00:00week-end days.Weather report: still cold.<br />I shopped and saw Drive yesterday. I've gone through the fur-coat-wearing period (that thing is falling apart, and I don't think it'll make it through another winter. Sob.) and am out the other side, to the trench-with-lots-of-layers period. Which is hard cos the sleeves are quite small, so once there are layers, there's not much room to bend and stretch. (Also dresses. And blouses. And knitwear. And everything.)<div><br /><div>Of course, I do have shoes, just the majority of them are in a heap in the corner of my room at home. Which happens to be many hundreds of miles away. <div><div><br /></div><div>I can window shop here, but anything I buy has to make its way across the continent with me. So, as you can imagine, the new <a href="http://miista.com/live-free-ride-hard/" target="_blank">miista</a> S/S12 lookbook is making me drool - both the shoes themselves (chunky heels! bright colours! cutouts! woven panels! And now with no obvious roots. I waited 'til I got home to re-dye my hair, knowing that I'd been sent <a href="http://www.tietowel.com/" target="_blank">this</a>, the Tie Towel, to try out. It's the first time I've ever been sent something to try out, but since I've now been dyeing my hair continuously for nearly 5 years, I figured that being offered a special towel that wouldn't be patchy and horrible after a few months and would stay on my shoulders and avoid red splotches finding their way onto my clothes would be a welcome addition to my possessions. </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:100%;" ><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:100%;" >Err, it's good? Oh, it keeps falling off.</i>"), but it's certainly a handy tool, especially if you're a serial dye-r. I don't know how necessary it is to have a towel that doesn't stain if you just dye yourself at home, but the tie mechanism/the ability to keep something around your shoulders are a help.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:100%;" ><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:100%;">Probs should have done a quick review before Christmas as it would make a great stocking filler (I believe it's a tenner, avail at Boots/Superdrug/Asda)</span></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">jenn.x</div>jenn.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04818393092933095914noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1028692135122340611.post-67335551675353307472011-11-22T19:00:00.002+00:002011-11-22T19:07:37.185+00:00nightwear.I've worn this 'dress' before but rarely do I wear it full length. Bliss.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/af1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/af2.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/af3.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/af4.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/af5.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/af6.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/af7.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/af8.jpg" /></div><br /><a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/S2012RTW-JPGAULTI/" target="_blank">Jean Paul Gaultier</a><div><br />One of the only shows I looked at, first time, the whole way through. Classic Gaultier here - what's to add? Tongue-in-cheek, pinstripes, suiting, and lingerie, and wonderful as ever.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg2.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg3.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg4.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg5.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg6.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg7.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg8.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg9.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg10.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg11.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/jpg12.jpg" /></div><br /><a href="http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/S2012RTW-PRABANNE" target="_blank">Paco Rabanne</a><br /><br />I'll end on another favourite. Manish Arora is in the hot seat now at Rabanne, and the boy done good. I'm not usually a big fan of Arora's own label, but within the confines of the Rabanne name, there's almost a ladylike edge. The shapes, loud fabrics and sex appeal is all Arora, but the editing and styling means everything was just right - not too much, not too tacky, not overdone; just right. And I say this about a collection with many a shiny bottom half/sparkly top half combo.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr1.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr2.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr3.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr4.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr5.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr6.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr7.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr8.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr9.jpg" /><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Jai_Killers/ALBUM%202/pr10.jpg" /></div></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">jenn.x</div>jenn.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04818393092933095914noreply@blogger.com0
