Part trends to watch out for, I guess, but mostly pieces and looks I loved that I want to be wearing now, let alone when autumn comes around again.

10 - Piece: Shoes at Balenciaga

I guess these are coming down on a love/hate divide all over, but I can't get enough of them.

I think this is my favourite colourway.

9 - Look: Vera Wang

Sheer AND ruffly; styled so it's not too girly. Can not find fault.

8 - Look: Limi Feu

Just too awesome.

7 - Collection: No21

Contemporary, casual. I want to wear these pieces, and I want to wear them POSTHASTE.

6 - Collection: 3.1 Phillip Lim

One of the only LOVED collections that I still love as much; and for the same reasons.

Posting this look from it 'cos it's a pretty good example of the things I loved here.

5 - Collection: Giambattista Valli

So, to write this, I just flicked through my previous AW10 posts. As you will note, very few of the pieces/collections here are from the "LOVED" posts. I guess it's retrospective? Hindsight? After a couple of weeks of not looking at things, I'm not as in love as I once was. That said, Valli's collection still sticks in my mind, and the more I look at the pieces I picked out, the more I love it.

4 - Piece: THIS Dior bag.

Similar to the googly-eyed Giles, but cooler. Gimmicks are cute and stuff, but while both bags would probably get matted evench, at least this one wouldn't also have scratched googly eyes. And it looks so soft!

3 - Collection: Haider Ackermann

SO good; but specifically this look:

2 - Look: Fendi

Drawn to it; can't explain.

1 - Trend: The evening skirt/day time top combo.

YES.

As seen almost exclusively in Paris (Or, I only noticed it there), at Jasmine di Milo, Dries Van Noten and Martin Grant respectively. So much love for this look.

Notable mentions: Mr. Pugh's leather-bound wonders; structural peplum-y looks at DSquared and Louise Goldin; big floaty gingham skirt + sleeveless trench affair at Tommy Hilfger. Ouioui.

Oh, hey. Shoes.

More Paris times; but not yet a roundup, oh no!

Merely a little look at the shoes from Balenciaga. Not a fan of the collection, per se (no looks dragged to desktop...), but the shoes? The shoes I liked.

Balenciaga has been in the midst of some madness these last few seasons, as of SS07. The same goes for Balmain, off of SS09. While both these collections were a bit new; a bit different (I remember my textiles tutor going mental for Balenciaga SS08...), the houses both seem to have...rested on their laurels, a little? OK, perhaps this is more for Balmain (SS10, for eg, was abysmal. IMO.), but Balenciaga has run off with the futuristic shapes and big shoulders and carried on with that for a few seasons now.

What made SS08 special was the combo of futuristic with the vintage-tinged floral digital prints? I dunno, just seems Balenciaga does better when they add unexpected interest to the futurism. Which is what is missing, for me, from more recent collections. They are too futuristic. Too geared to that look. Jus' a plea to Nicholas Ghesquière to bring back to unexpected. It works.

A brogue-esque heel will always be appreciated. When combined with some serious hardware, wood and lego-esque goodness, I can only heap praise upon them. It took a while, but I'm really into the high, chunky, square heel. Like the Miu Miu SS10 shoes. I wasn't a fan at first. But 6 months down the line I am seeing and wanting. Must do a thrift sweep in order to find a similar 90s style...

Resort 2010; Part One

I figured I should post about the resort collections at some point, although I am about 3 weeks behind.

These posts are in order of favourite collections (ish) so this is ones I liked a few pieces from...

Some I like from an inspiration point of view, some from a 'I'd wear that' point of view, some I just like but can't explain why. Which isn't much good for a blogger but yknow.

Christopher Kane

Yeah, everyone's going mental over this one *shrugs*

I am a Kane fan, but I'm not in shock and awe over this (much like Balenciaga S/S 08, I remember my textiles teacher being like "IT'S AMAZING".....yeah, it's interesting, not mind blowing.)

Anyhoo, I liked this printed dress - the more abstract ones worked better IMO. And the grey and black mix...much love for that.

The printed shoes are pretty awesome though.

It's all about the colour combos here. That mix of blues = ♥ .

Isaac Mizrahi

Clearly he's been too busy presenting The Fashion Show (which I am watching avidly to tide me over til Project Runway returns.) to send out anything *too* interesting. But....the neon and flesh tone mix is so unusual, it just works. And that polka dot dress! If I can find a pale chiffon with dark dots I may have to whip up my own version.
