silhouette.

i did take some outfit shots today, but the light was terrible and i couldn't be bothered to take them again tonight. it's either too dark or bright morning winter sun on a morning right now; neither are ideal for taking photos anywhere in my room. le sigh.

so instead, some photos from around and about of silhouettes i like; mostly they've been/are going to be printed out and stuck on my inspiration board at uni, as they're (almost) all relevant to my work...

and of course i've forgotton where they're all from, but i think wayne tippets,

good trouser wearing; part II.

it's more like part 4 or 5 or something, but whatevs, right?

some trouser action was going down at wayne tippetts the other day. including on a guy! which is kind of expected since they don't have much option when it comes to legwear. right guys?
i'm finding trousers in unconventional shades a lot, too. salmon? well quite.

the second girl down is
painting the roses black, who is, annoyingly, 14 and fabulous. (i say annoyingly, because, of course, i was not wearing trousers in such a fabulous manner at that age. i wasn't doing much of anything fabulously at that age. sigh.)

must stop posting about trousers, or indeed, anything that i can't afford until a later date.
i would post some outfit shots but i'm mostly sitting at my desk, bundled up in clothes, sketchbook-ing and shall be continuing to do so for the foreseeable future. le sigh.

magic shorts

Pure CBA to link the posts re:the chiffon shorts, but scroll down a bit, you'll find em'.

But they are magic; fact.
In the sense that, yesterday (errr, Tuesday, since it's after midnight) I wore em to the Topshop opening and today (Weds) I wore them..yknow, to uni, out&about.

Anyways, this is the shot of me at the Topshop opening as shot by Jackie Dixon off o
f SHOW ME YOUR WARDROBE for Topshop (big thanks guyssss).

I find it amusing cos I wasn't wearing one bit of TS.
oh yeah - necklace&leggings; H&M//jacket; ebay//dress&shorts; vintage//boots; Priceless - but it's pretty much what I had on in one of the dhorts-styling shots anyways...

Oh, and today, a girl stopped me to grab a pic, saying she has a blog! (Guess nutstyle has competition; although, I say that, I haven't updated in nearly a month and someone should probs take over the reigns...)

Anyways, I did ask her the site but I didn't write it down and now I can't remember - style north or something?? ARGH! If one of you lot has heard of it, do lemme know. It's a blogspot, I know that. Pretty sure the name ends in North too. I will track down this site!!

EDIT: FOUND IT!!!! Fashion Looks North - I got on there to find me already up (XD) and also me good mate Lucie above me! Currently going through to find any other friends and acquaintances....

gon' started a new blog

I was gonna explain the reasoning behind it but cba, it's all on the first (and so far only, but there will be more, honest) post on it:

nutstyle.

CLICK, GO, FOLLOW, LOVE.

It is, essentially, what I think is a much needed street style blog for Newcastle (Upon-Tyne, N-U-T, see? Also, nutstyle is pretty catchy.) as run by me and beloved housemate/begrudging photographer when I don't want to hassle people, Dean.
We don't intend for us to be on there, I don't think (Dean might. I'm on 'ere if I want to be.), but we will be recording folk on a Monday afternoon around uni and town, for now, and probably at other times when we don't have classes/other stuff to do.

granny chic

Ana was in town on Monday - sushi date, charity shopping (i spent a lot of money. i need to stop that.), bit of a gig, night at theCut (accompanied by Daniel, among others.)
Expect a few posts on the subject today/tomorrow.

Firstly, we like a good granny.
Grannies are like, the ultimate fashionista (eurgh, i hate that word.)
In the sense that, a well dressed and confident person (as I would deem a fashion person) would wear what they like and literally not give a shit, so do grannies.
Now, the magic is, sometimes, they are AMAZING, and they don't even know it.

We managed to snap some (iphone camera, apologies for lack of quality) while we were wine&sushi guzzling in Fenwicks, which is totally the granny hotspot of Newcastle.

Granny number one: working the Pugh/McQueen-esque checks with a red snood. Dude, I don't know people my age who would rock that outfit so hard.
Granny number two: working the fur hat like she was made for it.

There were other awesome grannies we didn't manage to snap in our sushi hour, but man, I'm gonna be watching out for them next time I'm in town.

you shall not pass!

Wooo a post about my actual ventures!
These have been lacking lately...
Because mostly my ventures involve my sketchbook.
And the blog is not living up to it's title, but that's ok, right? We're still having a reet good time, right? Yeahhh.

Yeah.

It's the year of the big birthdays in our house (
all pretty close together too. Apart from Dean. And also Aaron, cos he's only 20. But t'were my 21st last month, Luke's last Saturday and Gemma's in February, and Aaron's 20th is in the middle of that. And then Dean's 21 in July, too. But that's AGES away. Pfft.)

WAIT WHAT WAS MY POINT?
Oh yeah.

Party time! Fantasy theme, I heard. Cue LOTR/Harry Potter-based funtimez.

Erm, this was the only fancy-dress based pic I pulled out to upload (there's loads on facebook though, if you're a friend. BTW, if you're a reader, and add me, let me know, cos I tend to not add people I don't know!), but let's face it, it's the best. OH APART FROM LUKE'S. And mehbehs Josh's. Luke done Gandalf (complete with amazingly accurately detailed staff, and itchy wig) and Josh was erm, that tree what talks off the second LOTR film. He had loads of cardboard leaves; they didn't last long.

But yeah, Hannah's Bellatrix Lestrange was unrivalled, and her wig did the rounds. Aaron's Salazar Slytherin just made him look Mexican, FYI. I think it's the tache.

Re: wig doing the rounds, it ended up on Matthew; doing a Cher impression.

"Gypsiiieees, Tramps and Thieeevesss"

Actual going-out-to-the-Cut-times. The 'proper adults' followed by the return of my gay boyfriend and a nice bit of theCut wall. It's a pretty awesome venue.

Oh, and then this random girl who was wearing Henry Holland tights. She was waiting for t'toilet, we were just outside on the smoking balcony, and I literally went "HENRY HOLLAND TIGHTS!! PICTURE?!?!"
Hah. I enjoy her "wtf, I'll just stick my thumb-up. Fucking weirdo" pose.

150 posts; a celebration

We'll celebrate with Pumpkin Soup!
Made on Wednesday, while Ana was here:

We cut the top off, scrooped out the pulp and cut out the flesh; then roasted the flesh with a little cinnamon and seasoning on top. (We threw away the pulp, anyone know what we could have done with it?? We dried out all the seeds too; pumpkin seeds are yummy.)

Once roasted, we boiled some water and then hand blended the pumpkin into it and simmered away. Added some cream, and some herbs (a dash of curry powder, some fresh coriander) and continued to stir and simmer until it was a wonderful thick consistency...

Served with our seeds and some crusty bread, and a lovely swirl of cream on top...

Nomnomnom. Very good.
I also made carrot and coriander with the leftover cream & fresh coriander (about 6 carrots, boiled then hand blended, with half an onion and then a handful of chopped coriander and about half a carton of cream). A bag of carrots (about 12!) for 30p from Morrisons....good old Mozzas. I enjoyed the C&C more, actually.

Another celebration? Some Thursday outfits. (Not me though! Ana, Thomas & Aaron...)

peaches + cream

Brick Lane, 25/10/09
A good way to wear trousers; I think. Love the colour of the jacket; and the satchel ♥

edit: As Eppie noticed, and I didn't, there's Bailey looking confused in the background! Probs cos I disappeared at speed to get a pic of this girl and she didn't know where I'd gone, which isn't a good situation to be in on Brick Lane on a Sunday.

gaga

This pic didn't turn out so good, but you can see these guys are a bit mental; yes? Good.
In honour of getting golden circle tickets for GaGa herself in March. EXCITED!
Also, I totally have the shoes the blonde one is wearing.

I'm not down with floral leggings per se, but I enjoy this look.

Jungle Cats

Yes, it's past midnight and I'm posting.
Yesterday's (Wednesday's....) wanderings into town with Aaron and Gemma. I enjoy Gemma's jacket (and leopard shoes, co-ordinating with me subconciously), and as we all know, I always enjoy Aaron's wardrobe choices.

Waiting for them to get ready means gratuitous posing in the alley! Wahey!
This is the new leopard print dress, plus patterned scarf (the only scarf I own)...I need a black one, but this wasn't too bad, hmm? Wearing flats for once too! Gemma was pleased with this because it takes twice as long to walk into town when I'm in heels. Tough luck my friend, it's platform boots time tomorrow.

Regarde! My awesome glasses case what was 50p off of a charity shop! (Oh, and my sunglasses)

Also, here is some corned beef and potato pie, which me and Dean made. Be impressed....now. (I did the pastry/leaves, Dean is hastened to add he bought the corned beef AND mashed the potatoes, AND put the filling into the pastry....)

I'm going to see Coco Before Chanel tomorrow! Yesssss. Finally!
And hopefully, HOPEFULLY, Inglorious Basterds next week :D
I might as well move to the Tyneside, I'm there so much......

Aaron Bowman; One Fabulous Bitch

Regarde:

To be fair, Luke is awesome also. I believe this to be Aaron's jumper.

It's quite the experience living with these two and their fabulous-ness.

Aaron was excited to tell me about his amazing matches, too.

We (and Gemma) went to see Harry Potter (at the Tyneside!), and weren't particularly impressed. We decided that was cos we knew what was going to happen but...idk. Malfoy though, looking good. Evidently I like the evil ones.

I did enjoy the scene where Professor McGonagall tells Harry and Ron to go to Potions class, but before she talks to them. Laughing and a bit spaced? Clearly a bit high. Cue amusement.

Ah I have so much to post about that I haven't got round to! I will, I will.

Coffee Couple

Photobucket

Grainger Street, 11/7/09
Aha! I knew I'd find cool people. There were actually about 3 or 4 people I wanted to take pics of on Saturday, and more during the week, but I was asking if I could do a survey for my project/drinking coffee/otherwise engaged/they were in the middle of a conversation for me to ask them.
I will be more ruthless next time, clearly.

Lookbook Looks

Just some looks I'm into atm. Man I need to get on that site, if just to hype the hot looks.
I never like the ones at the top of the hype list, I need to big up the hot looks that aren't getting recognition!

All pics from lookbook.nu, except the girl in the blue blazer, which is from Professionally Trendy.

I swear that website is genius.

Sidenote:
Me and Bailey are going to the East End Thrift Store tomorrow night - there's a sale party, and the guy who served me today promised free drinks.
There better be, I have no money for actual drinks.
Anyway, there are details on their myspace, Londoners would do well to get themselves down if they are not in a 25-pound-to-last-me-the-week kind of situation.
