resort.

all imgs from style.com

Quick resort roundup, non? I paid little to no attention to Resort this year (normally I look through every show every season but, yknow, I was busy), though I've seen a few collections on various blogs. I took some time to look through the labels I like, though, and pick out some looks I'm feeling.

3.1 Phillip Lim; ADAM

Love the shoes at ADAM more than any of the clothes (really hoping the multi buckle/pointy thing filters down to affordable level and the colour and cut of the trousers at Lim.

Band of Outsiders; Chloe

HOUNDSTOOTH JACKET. LEATHER SKIRT. That is all. Again, shoes at Chloe - the clothes were all nice enough but nothing too astounding - and thats two for two on the multi-buckle thing.

Givenchy
Great cut outs/shapes, love the colour palette and the mixed florals.

Alexander McQueen; Mulberry
Love the shapes at McQueen, and the cute pieces like this floral dress at Mulberry. Especially a fan of the leopard print shoes/ankle socks. SHOES AGAIN. QUELLE SURPRISE.

Proenza Schouler
It's really the colour palette at Proenza, which is gorgeous. I liked most of the looks and found it hard to pick one in particular, but this one's really cool.

Speaking of Givenchy...

I wasn't going to do any Couture posts, mostly because you can awe over them as much as you want; you'll never afford them.
Anyway, while couture is all nice and theatrical and interesting, ready-to-wear has just as much influence on the direction of fashion now anyway, so it's a bit of a dying art. Officially, couture exists only to sell perfume and cosmetics, which is where designers make most of their money.
At least that's what we were taught in guidance in first year.

Anyway
I am breaking this rule purely because Givenchy was stunning.
Regarde...

Black, white, red, gold, silver.
Sheer. Metallic.
The sheer houndstooth on the last dress!
The red stones on the illusion netting on the 5th look, so it looks like theyre on your skin!
That gold chain top!
The white and gold jacket in the 9th look! (I covet thee.)
And above all, the 3rd look, with your drapey but sculptural cream top morphing to red fluttery lushness, accessorised with strappy arm bands in what looks like leather; or at least something just as beautifully chunky...

Gorgeous.

PS
shall be posting more - I would blame the placement report but in all honesty I only started it yesterday. I blame Farm Town and french films.

Givenchy for Madonna

How awesome is this? Riccardo Tisci's actual illustration for Madonna latest tour outfits!
I'm all about seeing high profile designers illustrations. That's pretty much what I wish my illustrations looked like. I shall get working on them when I've done my placement report*.

This is the finished product, btw.

*Which I should probably start soon, instead of making banners and what is essentially an ebay advert. You may have noticed these things (above and to the right, respectively).

Resort 2010; Part Three

Ones I really liked!

Alexander Wang

The colour palette! ♥
I love neutrals; and blue, and this is awesome. That white dress is lovely - white and nude dresses are everywhere right now, and its a good look, I think, but not necessarily the easiest to pull off...
Wang pieces are so easy to wear though. The crochet top reminds me of this Terri Stevens creation (scroll down!) - from Project Runway Season 4.

Givenchy

Again with the white dresses...
The fourth look is my favourite here. I love, in ways I can't describe, the way the studs on the top match up to the studs on the trousers. Perfection!

J Mendel

I love this colour palette too!
And the draping!
And the structure!
Ahhhhhhhh!

Michael Kors

And yet again with the colour palette love. Natural tones and blues! Squee!
I love the draping and the folds in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th looks. And the print on the first dress is gorgeous.

Donna Karan

Draping! Gathering! Nudes! Brights!
The stripy skirt in look 2 is love. Immense amounts of love.
